Weight Gain Associated With Zelnorm - IBS Diet: Know The Common IBS Trigger Food And IBS Safe Food

Spastic bowel syndrome is believed to be due to the abnormal function (dysfunction) of the muscles of the organs of the gastrointestinal tract or the nerves controlling the organs. The nervous control of the gastrointestinal tract, however, is complex. A system of nerves runs the entire length of the gastrointestinal tract from the esophagus to the anus in the muscular walls of the organs. These nerves communicate with other nerves that travel to and from the spinal cord. Nerves within the spinal cord, in turn, travel to and from the brain. (The gastrointestinal tract is exceeded in the numbers of nerves it contains only by the spinal cord and brain.) Thus, the abnormal function of the nervous system in IBS may occur in a gastrointestinal muscular organ, the spinal cord, or the brain.

As already mentioned, abnormal function of the nerves of the gastrointestinal organs, at least theoretically, might occur in the organ, spinal cord, or brain. Moreover, the abnormalities might occur in the sensory nerves, the motor nerves, or at processing centers in the intestine, spinal cord, or brain. Some researchers argue that the cause of functional diseases is abnormalities in the function of the sensory nerves. For example, normal activities, such as stretching of the small intestine by food, may give rise to abnormal sensory signals that are sent to the spinal cord and brain, where they are perceived as pain.

There has been a great deal of controversy over the role that poor digestion and/or absorption of dietary sugars may play in aggravating the symptoms of IBS. Poor digestion of lactose, the sugar in milk, is very common as is poor absorption of fructose, a sweetener found in many processed foods. Poor digestion or absorption of these sugars could aggravate the symptoms of IBS since unabsorbed sugars often cause increased formation of gas.

Herbal Remedy For Irritable Bowel Syndrome - Understanding Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Constipation can be a difficult IBS symptom to deal with, but so can diarrhea. People who suffer from diarrhea-predominant IBS experience frequent bowel movements of watery and/or loose stool. Other diarrhea-related symptoms include abdominal pain or discomfort, cramping, bloating, gas, nausea and dehydration.

- Antispasmodic - these slow spasms that occur in the intestine (I.E. Imodium). Although, antidiarrheals are usually effective, they may not help other symptoms such as bloating or abdominal discomfort. Furthermore, prolonged use of antidiarrheals can result in dry mouth, constipation, and other symptoms.

If you are interested in learning about alternative treatments, talk to you health care provider first, and be sure to seek treatment from qualified practitioners. In addition to what we had mentioned in the previous paragraph, much more has to be said about diet recipes ibs. If space permits, we will state everything about it.

Consult your doctor about OTC antidiarrheal meds for IBS treatment before taking anything. In addition, you shouldn't resort to antidiarrheals until at least 24 hours after experiencing diarrhea, as you don't want to stop your body from expelling toxins in the event your diarrhea is a result of bacteria such as food poisoning.

Over-the-counter (OTC) antidiarrheal medications can be effective at providing diarrhea relief when used as short-term treatment. There are two types of antidiarrheal drugs.

- Meditation exercises (I.E. Yoga)

- Relaxation therapy

- Hypnotherapy

- Cognitive behavioural therapy

It's also a good idea to distract yourself by taking part in regular activities you enjoy.

Diets For Ibs Syndrome Sufferers - Understanding Irritable Bowel Syndrome

"They All Laughed When We Went To A Hypnotherapist ' Until Our IBS Went Away!"

I know YOU might find this almost impossible to believe, but it's 100% true! If you are interested in getting rid of the abdominal pain, bloating, constipation and diarrhoea of IBS safely ... finally enjoying life with all the energy and enthusiasm of a 3 year old ... then this is going to be the most important article you're going to read. Here's why: In the next few minutes ... you'll discover the key ingredient that many doctors and patients either do not know, or keep as a closely guarded secret ... that could completely wipe out IBS and give you more energy and control over your life than the power of a jumbo-jet on steroids! But first I have to warn you ... What you are about to read will offend some people. You see, some practitioners out there just want to suck your money away faster than a vacuum cleaner devouring dirt! These scumbags do not like real solutions that banish IBS being shared with the public. Why? ... Because if you're in control of your life that's completely free from IBS, they won't get your money! But ... I'm going to share something both powerful and life changing with you because I have morals and I like to sleep at night. So to the quacks (drug company promoting 'Ductors') that prey on unsuspecting people like a hungry lion preys on a baby zebra, I make no apologies. To IBS sufferers reading ... and the genuine doctors and health practitioners that care about their patients, feel free to share this article and spread the word. I am going to reveal the shocking truth about ...

"The Wrong Way And The Right Way To Free Yourself From IBS With Hypnosis!" Now ... if you think I'm talking about stage hypnosis, mind control, 'IBS is all in your head', taking away your ability to think for yourself or any of that nonsense ... think again. Fact #1 You've already been hypnotised and you do it to yourself every single day! Have you ever heard people use phrases like 'pain in the butt', 'pain in the neck', 'getting under my skin', 'it's breaking my back working here', 'cracking me up', etc etc ... And then having health problems?! The amazing thing about this sort of self hypnosis is that when the mind believes it, the body acts upon it as though it were real. I know YOU repetitively use certain words and phrases, either aloud or in your head. Are your words and phrases helpful or harmful to your gut? You know ... hypnosis isn't good or bad. It just works! And it works for anyone with a pulse ... but when it's used positively, the greatest dreams you have will seem like mere cartoons compared with the life you can create for your future. Keep reading to find out how ... But ... if you don't know how to use it for yourself, or if you haven't got someone using it correctly with you, you're blindly playing darts with your body as the target ... with little hope of creating a healthy gut. Now if you're curious about what the heck hypnosis has to do with something as embarrassing, painful and serious as IBS, keep reading ... Fact 2# Whatever affects your brain influences your gut! Some examples are stress, fear, anxiety, negative thoughts, low self-esteem, distorted perceptions etc etc ... all of these can harm your digestive and bowel functions. Why? Because processing in the communication link between the gut and the brain can dramatically influence the outcome of IBS. Sensations of pain and disturbed bowel function results from how the gut 'knows' what to do ... More specifically, the cycle of the gut - nervous system loop resulting in diarrhoea or constipation ... comes from the signals through processing in the brain ... There is always a loop going on between the brain and the gut, so make sure you get in control of this cycle fast. Fact 3# Hypnosis can help restore digestive & bowel functioning safely. In an altered state of consciousness such as trance induced by hypnosis ... it's entirely possible for the processing of the gut-brain cycle to be restored to a healthy level of processing. When you're in a healthy trance state ... you can influence bodily functions that you normally can't, such as temperature, blood pressure, heart rate etc etc ... Now for your IBS it's a matter of learning to control your own digestive processes too. Recently a study of 250 patients aged 19-79 years, 50 male, at the Dept of Medicine, University Hospital of South Manchester ... concluded that this study clearly demonstrates that 'hypnotherapy remains an extremely effective treatment for Irritable Bowel Syndrome which should prove more cost-effective as new, more expensive drugs come on to the market' (adapted in part from study). Now ... what does this mean for YOU? For starters, correcting the processing of your gut-brain cycle which is normally not under conscious control ... can dramatically improve your gut and your quality of life ... the most natural, safest and fastest method that has been scientifically proven to work, is hypnotherapy. But be warned ... In some parts of the world hypnotherapy isn't regulated, so you've got some people practising that have only read books or attended a weekend seminar on hypnosis ... So be careful who you work with. You'll find some great practitioners though. Better still ... If you can find one trained in the methods used in the study done in Manchester as mentioned above ... your chances of success will increase dramatically. Now ... please don't think that I am saying hypnosis is the only way to sooth IBS. Just as repeating negative thoughts in your mind aggravates your gut, so too can your diet and lifestyle choices. It isn't rocket science to understand how a diet of burgers, fries and high sugar (particularly fructose & fructan rich) content foods don't work well for IBS. There's a fantastic new program called 'Cure IBS Fast' that's from a hypnotherapist (yours truly ) trained in the approach used in the Manchester study that proved how effective hypnosis is in treating IBS. In addition to 4 self-relaxation CDs, I've also compiled the latest diets, exercises, remedies and much more for you to use privately ... to quickly & easily relieve IBS and it's embarrassing consequences without having to rely on drugs. This program comes with a 30 day money back guarantee and is only available from www.cureibsfast.com For a limited time, I am offering the e-books and 4 self hypnosis audio sessions for $US67.00 with free shipping worldwide. PLUS if you order within the next 7 days I will include an exclusive set of recipes to tantalize your tastebuds (imagine eating again without worrying about IBS ' how great would that feel), valued at $US27 FREE. Best Food For Ibs - Who Else Wants To Fix Irritable Bowel Syndrome And Get Instant Relief?

Study confirms IBS improvement Dr. Maia Dodds

Irritable bowel syndrome is a debilitating and distressing condition, which affects 10-20% of the population. IBS is characterized by abdominal pain and altered bowel function such as constipation, diarrhea or alternating diarrhea and constipation. Some people have occasional symptoms, which can be aggravated by stress or food intolerances. Others experience crippling symptoms, and struggle to maintain their quality of life in the absence of any targeted, effective pharmaceutical treatments. This disorder affects people of all ages and backgrounds, including children, although women are predominantly affected. Severe IBS can dramatically restrict mobility, through loss of control of bowel function and severe abdominal pain. These symptoms contribute to IBS being second only to the common cold as the most frequent cause of absenteeism from work and school. Despite the significant impact on individuals and the population at large, there is no clear established cause for IBS. Whilst medical investigations are important to eliminate the possibility of an over-lapping pathology such as parasites, candida, inflammatory bowel disease, cealiacs or Crohn's disease, there is no specific investigation which patients can test positive for in order to confirm a diagnosis of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. A diagnosis of IBS is more often a diagnosis of exclusion - if its not another gastrointestinal condition, and it fits the symptom picture of IBS, then it is IBS. The current accepted criteria for diagnosing IBS is the Rome criteria (adopted in medical texts and by the American Gastroenterological Association). Their definition of IBS consists of: At least 12 weeks, which need not be consecutive, in the preceding 12 months of abdominal discomfort or pain that has two of three features: -Relieved with defecation and/or -Onset associated with a change in frequency of stool and/or -Onset associated with a change in form (appearance) of stool. The following symptoms support the diagnosis of IBS: -Abnormal bowel movement frequency (more than three per day or less than three per week), -Abnormal stool form (lumpy/hard or loose/water), -Abnormal stool passage (straining, urgency, or feeling of incomplete evacuation), -Mucous passed with stools, -Abdominal bloating or distension. There are few effective treatments for IBS. Pharmaceutical medications include anti-diarrheal agents and laxatives, some of which can be harmful if used repeatedly. Significant improvements can be made through dietary changes which can therefore reducing some trigger factors for IBS. It is also important to practice some stress reduction techniques such as breathing techniques, and positive psychology, as there is a direct link between stress and an aggravation of IBS symptoms. The most promising, long-lasting and side-effect free results in the treatment of IBS were based on a large clinical trial conducted at an Australian university, and published in the Journal of the American Medical Association in 1998. These results demonstrated a 64-76% improvement rate on all measures of IBS such as abdominal pain, distention and bowel habits. These results were achieved in a double-blind, placebo controlled clinical trial conducted by gastroenterologists and doctors. The remarkable positive results were achieved in the treatment group that received Chinese herbal treatments. This same formula can be purchased as pre-made capsules from select retailers, and it offers great hope for those struggling with IBS.

Treating Ibs With Constipation - Cybill Shepherd And The Irritable Bowel

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a very common condition, but in some ways it is still a mystery. There are many different theories about what causes the syndrome, and different doctors will give you different reasons for your illness ' anything from stress to bad bacteria to food intolerance. And once you have been diagnosed, there is no set form of treatment ' instead, sufferers tend to try two or three supplements or therapies to find a combination that works for them.

Sufferers sometimes find that their symptoms begin after a bout of food poisoning or an operation. Others date their symptoms back to a very stressful period in their lives, and some patients can see no clear reason for why their symptoms began. Ignorance is bliss, is it? Isn't it better to learn more than not to know about something like what causes ibs constipation. So we have produced this article so that you can learn more about it!

However, this does not mean it is any less real than, say, inflammatory bowel disease, it just means that doctors haven't come up with a proper test for it yet!

Finally, there are several alternative therapies which can be effective for IBS. Hypnotherapy has proved very effective, and a special form called gut-directed hypnotherapy has been developed just for digestive problems. Acupuncture may also be worth looking into. A rolling stone gathers no moss. So if I just go on writing, and you don't understand, then it is of no use of me writing about what causes ibs constipation! Whatever written should be understandable by the reader.

Weight Loss With Zelnorm - The Grumbling Gut

Fibromyalgia Myths and Truths. ' By Lena Sanchez When, after 15 years of excruciating pain and hospitalizations without an answer to the pain suffered daily, I was finally diagnosed with Fibromyositis, now known by it's common name Fibromyalgia (FMS), I was given a lot of prescriptions and told that I would more than likely end up in a wheel chair.

TRUTHS I found are; FMS is painful and debilitating. It occurs more in women than men. With it comes depression, loss of self worth, pain beyond comprehension and in places you cannot describe literally from the top of your head to the bottoms of your feet. Disability comes to the person who follows the traditional path of treatment. Pain varies from one person to the next as to the severity and the areas on the body. Sleep deprivation and chronic fatigue are constant companions when FMS is out of control. Alternative Natural medicine is the only route to go to keep from becoming a wheel chair bound invalid also regain your self worth and avoid chronic fatigue and IBS. Heart disease comes from the stress of it all so you have to be extra careful to keep antioxidants in your system, 5 to 10 times the RDA's. Sugary foods exacerbate FMS. Eating empty caloried foods (chips, sodas, cookies, etc.) set up an exacerbation of FMS. Most of these I experienced for myself in the past.

Most doctors in 2003 still do not consider FMS a legitimate illness, but will try to appease a patient while knowing nothing about how to help them.

Hoping you make a smart decision to take charge of your health!
Lena

Ibs Diet Meals - Spastic Bowel Syndrome Signs And Symptoms

Spastic bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a chronic gastro-intestinal (GI) condition with no known cause or cure. It causes the GI tract to move too quickly (hypermotility) or too slowly (hypomotility) and the resulting symptoms include any one or a combination of the following: diarrhea, constipation, cramping, gas, pain or bloating. Symptoms usually run in cycles lasting for days, months or years. IBS can be disabling making sufferers feel like prisoners in their own home. IBS affects 35 million Americans, 4 of 5 are women, and it is more prevalent than asthma, diabetes, acid reflux and depression combined. There are likely millions who never pursue treatment due to embarrassment. 10% of all primary care physician visits are IBS related. It is the 2nd leading cause for employee absenteeism and costs the US 8 billion dollars/year. Diagnosing IBS is a process of exclusion which means a physician needs to rule out conditions such as lactose intolerance, Chron's disease, bacterial infections, parasites, dumping syndrome, ulcerative colitis, inflammatory bowel disease, celiac and gallbladder disease before a diagnosis of IBS can be determined. The onset of symptoms ranges between the ages of 20-29 in adults and 9-11 in children. Onset of symptoms can sometimes be traced back to a traumatic event, illness, injury or accident. Some clients just begin having symptoms early in life for no apparent reason at all. IBS is also known to be familial. Many IBS sufferers go through life with no idea of what normal gastro-intestinal function is like. IBS symptoms can be aggravated by stress, chocolate, caffeine, alcohol, foods high in animal or vegetable fat, beverages containing dyes, artificial sweeteners, food or medication sensitivities or hormone fluctuation but none are the cause. Some research indicates that IBS sufferers may have an abundance of specialized cells in the intestinal tract making them more reactive and sensitive. Irregular GI motility is responsible for the discomfort and inconsistent bowel movements. If the GI tract moves too quickly the body doesn't get enough time to absorb what it needs resulting in diarrhea. If it moves too slowly the body absorbs too much resulting in constipation. This erratic pattern can dramatically affects how nutrients are absorbed and how effective the colon absorbs waste out of the blood stream. (1) Traditional medical intervention includes high fiber diets, antispasmodics to relieve cramping and spasms; antidepressants to relieve the emotional burden and antidiarrhea medication. Research indicates that this approach offers symptom relief to only 25%. Because IBS is not life threatening, is not a precursor to acute illness and is undetectable with diagnostic equipment, sufferers are usually told they have to live with it. Hypnosis is the process of accessing subconscious thought which is the control center. The reason hypnosis is so effective for weight loss and smoking cessation is because the subconscious is where all of our habits, patterns, values and beliefs reside. Clients can be empowered to reframe their view of nutrition, exercise and to release unhealthy patterns in favor more positive ones. The subconscious mind also regulates our body's inner network of complicated mechanisms. It regulates our heart and respiratory rate, co-ordinates every step we take and controls the thousands of metabolic functions everyday of our lives. With unique access to this immensely powerful place hypnosis can positively redirect specific areas of GI function. Hypnosis as a treatment for IBS has been researched for 20 years and although it does not offer a cure it stands alone as the most significant long term symptom relief solution. The success rate of hypnosis relieving IBS symptoms including abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhea and/or constipation is consistently high ranging from 70-95%. Symptom relief usually lasts at least two years. Clients who do not respond as well to hypnosis treatment for IBS relief are those over 50 years of age, who are less open to process of hypnosis, those with psychiatric disorders, and one study indicates males with diarrhea as their major symptom. (2) For decades hypnosis has been one of the most misunderstood and overlooked holistic sciences but that is changing quickly. The best way to gain acceptance by the mainstream medical community is with the empirical evidence from scientific research. For 20 years researchers like Olafur S. Palsson, Peter Whorwell, William Gonsalkorale and L.A. Houghton have been studying the benefits of hypnosis for symptoms of IBS. The following are brief descriptions of some of their findings. One study compared 25 severe IBS clients treated with hypnosis to 25 patients with similar symptom severity treated with other methods. The hypnosis group showed that in addition to significant IBS symptom improvement they had fewer MD visits, lost less work time and rated an improved quality of life. Hypnosis clients unable to work before treatment went back to work afterwards. The study shows the economic benefits and improved health-related quality of life. (3) Another study which is the largest to date followed 250 IBS clients who were treated with 12 hypnosis sessions over a 3-month period and they also listened to recorded sessions at home. The conclusions showed dramatic improvement in all IBS symptoms. The average reduction in symptoms was more than 50% as well as increased quality of life and relief from anxiety and depression. (4) Lastly, the longest study to date treated and followed 204 IBS clients for up to 6 years. 71% showed immediate improvement, and 81% of this group was still improved years later. Quality of life scores were also still significantly improved at follow-up. Patients had less MD visits and required less medication long-term after hypnotherapy. Results indicate that most hypnosis clients benefit for at least five years. (5) (1) Melissa J. Roth C.Ht., Ph.D.; Hypnosis and Spastic bowel Syndrome (2) Olafur S. Palsson, Psy.D. Drugs To Treat Ibs - Irritable Bowel Syndrome - IBS

Irritable Bowel syndrome is the most common disease diagnosed by gastroenterologists (doctors who specialize in medical treatment of disorders of the stomach and intestines) and one of the most common disorders seen by primary care physicians. In gastroenterology, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a functional bowel disorder characterized by abdominal pain, discomfort or bloating relieved by defecation and alteration of bowel habits. Irritable Bowel Syndrome may begin after an infection (post-infectious, IBS-PI) or a stressful life event. IBS can be classified as either diarrhea-predominant (IBS-D), constipation-predominant (IBS-C) or IBS with alternating stool pattern (IBS-A or pain-predominant ). Other functional or pain disorders and certain psychological conditions are more common in those with IBS. In fact, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) affects approximately 10-20% of the general population.

As IBS is a chronic condition, with an ongoing fluctuating course, these treatments may help the individual to develop skills for managing the condition over the long haul. Irritable Bowel Syndrome does not lead to more serious conditions in most patients. Most individuals are surprised to learn they are not alone with the symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

Treatment options are available to manage Irritable Bowel Syndrome - whether symptoms are mild, moderate, or severe. These treatments for IBS can include dietary adjustments, medication and psychological interventions, and as for any physiological condition, works best when it successfully addresses the cause of the condition.
